Matsu and Michi grew up together as cousins and went to the same academy. From childhood, both wished to own a sanctuary/lab where former hostile Pokemon could become peaceful and where normal Pokemon could make friends. And so they chose the flower-filled, sweet-smelling, peaceful Kaori Town for their ideal location.
However, Professor Michi is usually out to do fieldwork and collect troubled Pokemon to be raised in a new life back at the Lab. There's a good chance you'll run into him somewhere on your journey. Professor Matsu is always researching here, though. Check in from time to time-- He'll be overly elated by your company and will probably have something for you then. But that's probably not the reason you first stop by, right?
